Based in Braselton, GA, a stone’s throw from the world famous Road Atlanta circuit, Robertson Racing has come a long way in a short space of time.

The team is the realization of a dream shared by David and Andrea  Robertson  to see the iconic Ford GT compete once again against the  titans of European sport car racing.  As a schoolboy in the 1960’s, David watched transfixed as Ford became the first American manufacturer to win the Le Mans 24 Hours against the might of its European rivals Porsche and Ferrari.

By the beginning of the 1970s however the GT40 was no longer the car to beat and soon slipped into retirement, gone but most certainly not forgotten. For 35 years it remained an icon of a bygone, black and white era until being reborn as a modern 21st century supercar in 2005.

The implications were not lost on the Robertson's who had just taken up racing themselves.

Following their vision, the Robertson's enlisted the help of Dick Barbour Racing and team manager Andrew ‘H’ Smith to complete an ambitious project initialized by Kevin Doran; to design and build a competitive GT2-spec Ford GT virtually from scratch in time for the 2008 ALMS season opener at Sebring.

The three short seasons since have seen the team progress up the grid, despite the highly-competitive nature of the championship’s manufacturer-dominated GT category, which culminated in pole position at Petit Le Mans in 2009, a trip to Japan for two Asian Le Mans Series events and a remarkable 24 finishes from 28 starts that has characterised the team’s determination and work ethic, not to mention their car’s reliability.

2011 sees Robertson Racing reach another milestone in their short history after announcing that a second Ford GT will join its #40 stablemate in the ALMS this season.

Even more exciting is the development that the Robertsons have been working towards for four years, and dreaming of for many decades. In February, organisers of the Le Mans 24 Hours, the ACO, announced that Robertson Racing’s entry had been accepted for the event’s 79th running on June 11/12 2011, 45 years on from Ford’s first victory there.
