Melanie Snow and Andrea Robertson form first all-female ALMS driver crew

Robertson Racing will field the first all-female driver pairing in American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron history at the upcoming Mid-Ohio Sportscar Challenge on August 5/6.

Regular driver and team co-owner Andrea Robertson will be joined by highly experienced GT driver Melanie Snow in the #40 Ford GT. Andrea’s husband and fellow co-owner/driver David Robertson has taken the decision to stand down for the two-hour 45-minute enduro.

Snow, who currently lies fifth in the IMSA GT3 Challenge by Yokohama Platinum Cup standings, having won the 2009 Gold edition, will make her first ALMS start since clinching the GT Challenge class title in 2009. It’s been 12 years since her first and only main GT class appearance when she won on debut at Sebring.

Robertson Racing glad to survive chaos at Mid-Ohio

Robertson Racing were delighted to see both of its Ford GTs merely make it to the finish at Mid-Ohio last weekend as torrential rain ensured the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron’s fifth round of 2011 was a nerve-racking affair.

But although the Braselton, (GA)-based outfit were relieved to come home unscathed seventh and 14th in the GT class, it was a case of what might have been, especially for the #04 machine.

The Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington isn’t one that has traditionally favoured the iconic Ford, but the team were in confident mood after testing on Tuesday when new signing Melanie Snow got to grips with the #40 all-female-crewed car she would share with Andrea Robertson for the first time.

The track had evolved dramatically in time for Friday’s qualifying however with Anthony Lazzaro doing well to put the #04 GT 10th in class despite suffering a broken sway bar, while the sister machine lined up four places further back..

Robertson Racing brings both cars home at Mosport

Robertson Racing admitted feeling slightly disheartened to finish seventh and 14th at the Grand Prix of Mosport last Sunday, home to round four of the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron.

It’s a mark of the Braselton-based outfit’s recent run of strong performances that their solid top-ten, incident-free outing in Canada would prove a source of frustration, despite contesting world motorsport’s most competitive GT championship.

Following the team’s podium finish at Lime Rock Park two weeks ago, hopes were high that the #04 Ford GT could again spring a surprise amongst the more fancied factory entries. David Murry started strongly to keep the car inside the top ten before handing over to co-driver Anthony Lazzaro who overcame a late splash and dash fuel stop to take the chequered flag seventh, two places higher than where the duo started.
